My students need Dash Robots. Every student, no matter what his or her learning style, reading level, ability or disability may be, everyone can code with these robots.
Ashby Lee Elementary will be participating in the Hour of Code (from Code.org) for a third year during Dec. The activities and opportunities the Wonder Workshop Dash and Dot robots will provide allows the excitement from the Hour of Code to continue throughout the year.
I work in a wonderful community that love and support their children and teachers.
Unfortunately, over 60% of our students receive free and reduced lunches. Recently, our school board decided to be proactive and placed a freeze on all school funding. This makes it very difficult to continue helping my students reach the high expectations I have for them. They need experiences coding with the Wonder Workshop Dash and Dot robots.
My Project
My students are on a path, with enough support, that will lead them to careers that aren’t even created yet. They embody the core essence of a 21st century learner. Through your support I will be able to bring their coding skills to the
next level. They will be able to problem solve and use critical thinking skills in a variety of different ways. Research has shown that by the year 2020 there will only be 400,000 computer graduate students to fill over 1,000,000 programming jobs.
Technology affects every field of study. By using the Wonder Workshop Dash and Dot robots students will have basic to advanced coding opportunities. These are wonderful kid friendly robots my students love and adore. Please help me with my vision that every student in my school has this opportunity. We are not just preparing our students for the 21st century; we are IN the 21st century.
Research has shown that many schools across America don't teach computer science.
It's essential that our students be exposed to this field, as it is foundational in transforming the way students think about our world. It not only teaches them about technology, it also teaches them how to think differently about any problem. There are many state standards these opportunities cover from math and science to reading and technology. It brings STEM activities to a level that is engaging and fun.
