Help me give my students 2 HP Chromebooks and management consoles to stay in our classroom to allow differentiation to take place during reading/RTI (response to intervention).
John Dewey stated, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." My third graders view their education as a place where they can achieve anything!
They love to learn and show their enthusiasm daily.
They are right in the middle of their elementary years and are now considered big kids! They are involved in their academics and know it is up to themselves to achieve their goals. Our school is the lowest socioeconomic school in our district. Our free and reduced-price lunch numbers are up to 35% and continue to grow every year. We have a range of students in extreme poverty to middle-class students. Despite student backgrounds, they know a school is a place where they are safe and loved.
My Project
I have requested two Chromebooks because I rely on differentiated instruction to reach all student abilities.
For example, I conduct The Daily 5 centers in my classroom.
Within The Daily 5, students read-to-self, read-to-someone, work on writing, work with words, and listen to reading. Unfortunately, I only have 2 class Chromebooks for them to use technology for word work, listening to reading, and playing reading games. Two additional Chromebooks would allow more students to participate in centers. Also, I would like to use the set of Chromebooks to use during Response to Intervention. Students of all abilities need the opportunity to interact with technology, especially with the new computerized standardized tests Missouri will be using this year. We take for granted the opportunity to have technology at home and my students need the chance to use Chromebooks at school. Please help my students so they may apply those skills to everyday life.
This project is important to me because students enjoy using technology, regardless if it is education-based or for personal use.
