My students need a new carpet to sit and work on during our workstation block for literacy and math.

Chinese, Spanish, English. These are just some of the languages spoken in my diverse kindergarten classroom. I teach a class of 37 kindergarten students in Baltimore City, Maryland. 17 of the 37 students are English language learners. Because of our class size, and diverse economic backgrounds, we need lots of materials to keep our students engaged and to ensure their success.
My classroom is a nice size, but with a large number of children, space becomes cramped.
This leaves less room for students to move and rotate to other areas in the room.
My students are thoughtful, appreciative and have an incredible love for learning. Every day they enter the classroom happy and excited and ready to learn. They enjoy coming to school each day, knowing that they have a warm and inviting place to learn and make friends. Our school encourages our students to become ready for college. It is my job to lay the foundation for my kindergarteners, so that they are our leaders of the future.
Our students work in partners or groups throughout the day at their seats or on the floor. Providing them with a brand new clean carpet to work on during the day will motivate them to work even harder, and give them a clean space to work in.
The carpet that we currently have in our workstation area is very old and worn.
Having a new carpet will make our classroom an even happier and brighter space to work in. This new carpet has specified areas for students to sit and work at, so each child will have an assigned spot.
