My students need social and emotional learning games so that they can better understand how to control their emotions. My students also need materials such as foot bands and squishy balls to help them calm down.
I work in a very diverse school district that has a large population of low-income and high poverty students. Our students face many challenges in and out of the classroom. A lot of our students are below grade level in reading and many do not have access to books to practice reading at home.
I want to provide my students with as many creative and meaningful learning experiences as I can!
My students come into a new school year eager to learn and I want to make sure I have all the necessary supplies so I can be as ready and eager as they are.
My Project
The students in my classroom come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of them come in not knowing how to properly deal with the strong emotions they might encounter on a daily basis. With the help of these games, students will be able to learn together how to control their emotions. Many of the games will include role playing where students can act out the right and wrong way to handle their emotions.
Creating a calm down corner in my classroom will allow students a safe space to regroup after having strong emotions.
The squishy balls, timer and motion bubblers will give students tangible objects to help calm down.
