I teach high school in a resort coastal community. I teach Advanced Placement World History to a class of mainly sophomores. These students will take the AP exam in the Spring and if they score well enough, they will receive college credit. I want to make sure they are prepared for college and this project will help make learning fun!
Remember when you would do an art project and really get into it? I still have most of my high school art! My school has one art teacher and I want to expand the influence of art to as many students as possible. I want to do an art project with my history students. I want to teach them about the historical importance of the Romanov and also about China using ceramic pottery art.
I want to teach about the Romanovs and also about China. Then I want to give every student their own piece of pottery that relates to that period and have them follow traditional painting styles for their pottery. I want every student to walk away with knowledge and also a piece of pottery to remind them of their learning. I want every student to feel the relevance of history connected with art! I want to give students a tangible piece of history!
Your help will ensure that students are connected with art and history. Your help will ensure that students see the big picture and when looking at their pottery, remember the knowledge. Your help will also ensure that students are connecting learning with fun and enjoyment. My goal as a teacher is to create students who are interested in learning more. Your help will ensure that students are immersed in the topic and find it enjoyable.
