Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is a Title I school with 1500 students. Our students come from a variety of blue-collar households with over 80% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Miami. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse in their academics. We have four magnet academies: Academy of Information Technology, Academy of international business and finance, Academy of Agricultural Science and Academy of Health Science, and one day Academy of Culinary Arts. Our school provides the optimal learning environment through our commitment to excellence a rapidly changing technological and increasingly complex multicultural society.
My classes are an average of 30 students per class.
This oven arrived before I started at the school 3 1/2 yrs. It was in storage for 2 1/2 yrs and in my classroom for 1 year waiting to be installed. The students in Agriculture Tech built a stand for us saving $1,000. My students and I must raise an additional $1,727.00 to have it installed.
I am seeking to purchase the installation kit $703.00 and cost of labor $1,024.00.
My Project
The students will be able to cook a crispy skinned pork shoulder in this oven that will be cooked on the moist heat setting and finished on the air fryer settings. The students will learn how to program this oven to cook a product from start to finish without having to change the oven temperature manually through the introduction of technology into cooking and classical recipe adaptation.
This Rational CombiMaster Plus oven will teach the 3 cooking methods; moist heat, dry heat and combination heat methods involving modern technology.
This oven will be a great addition to our kitchen, and invaluable teaching and learning tool.
This will replace a steamer that is condemned to use and adds another oven that is needed, kitchen safety will be a major benefit also. The students will be able to work with some of the latest kitchen technology.
