Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our class focus this year is how we can help our environment and our community to make the world a better place. From taking our lessons outside, working on one of our many environmental projects, students get hungry! I want to infuse our garden in to a healthy snack and meal resource! We will be starting to sell our creations by setting up a healthy snack cart before and after school. The proceeds will be put back in to our program. This will show students the cost of running a business as well as encouraging healthy eating during the day.
My Project
My students are such hard workers and caring children. I am so proud of all they have achieved. Many do not have much financially, but they are big in heart and have an amazing work ethic! They also want to help and contribute to our community and society! Many different cultures live in our community and as part of our cooking club this year, the students want to invite family members in to demonstrate how to make some cultural dishes.
Our class focus this year is how we can help our environment and our community to make the world a better place, what brings people together more then food!
A Stand Mixer will assist in making Portuguese Cheese bread, and the large Cuisinart toaster oven will allow us to cook in our room with out having to walk down the hall to the lunch room. The students also will be researching while they are cooking, so I feel that using a wireless mouse will keep the work space cleaner.
