This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of inspiration! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging assignments that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take chances and cheer on their peers in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my why!
Many of my students come to school to get away from the overwhelming life of poverty.
They know when they enter the door to our classroom they are entering a safe, loving family of supportive learners.
My Project
Kindergarten is the foundation for all learning! Adding these kitchen items to our classroom will allow us to build yummy life skills into our reading and math lessons.
Why cooking in the classroom?
Students in my classroom come from low economic status homes and often do not have a wide variety of foods to try at home or the ability to practice cooking skills. These tools will give the students a chance to experiment with new and exciting foods that they would otherwise never have the chance to try.
We will be learning life skills, practice counting, measuring, weighing, time, reading, and learning healthy eating habits all while building an even stronger classroom community.
