Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Imagine trying to learn how to cook without having an oven? What about a microwave? My students are trying to learn how to care for themselves but lack the basic supplies necessary to do so.

My 37 students have Intellectual Disabilities.

They struggle with basic self care needs, such as learning how to cook in order to feed themselves. We are working on teaching them how to be responsible, independent young adults so that they will be able to be safe after high school.

My Project

I am requesting a convection oven/microwave. In a previous project we received many other smaller supplies that are necessary for cooking, but we are still unable to cook anything that requires an oven or microwave. This microwave will enable students to learn how to prepare whole meals for themselves.

I have been charged with preparing my students for life, but given no supplies in order to prepare them with.

I am counting on the kindness of outside donors to help my students become the independent young adults I know they can be.
