My students are hardworking, curious, and wiggly! My students are in a Title I, elementary campus, and most of them are low income. The students at my school may not have access to books and tools to help them discover new ideas.
I want to supply my students with their favorite books that allow them to have as close to normalcy as they had before the storm.
We are a STEM centered classroom and use a lot of real life experiences to fuel our learning.
My Project
We are INSPIRED by our wonderful school library. We are kicking away the desks (and many of the tables) and trading them for ottoman and floor seating.
My students work in stations and small groups 100% of the time.
You can often find students laying around the classroom at all times during the day. I believe in order to learn we must be comfortable. Especially when reading and writing I want my students to work where they are going to work best (even if that means laying under the table instead of sitting at the table).
I am asking for 2 ottoman sets to place in the library as a comfy place to read. I am also asking for a bookshelf and cube drawers to keep our notebooks since we are no longer using desks. The last thing I am asking for is floor cushions for the students to sit on at a floor table to read and write in their own comfort.
