This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A typical day in the classroom starts off with a little reading, followed by some more annotating, and finishes off with even more inferencing. My students are struggling, yet striving readers, trying to increase their Lexile scores to as close to grade level as possible.
My students are amazing, sixth grade scholars who have come from different backgrounds.
With the closing of schools, due to the Coronavirus, we are in need of technology and other supplies to aid with distant learning more than ever!
My Project
School, as we knew it, has changed for an unknown amount of time. Within days, we went from classrooms to virtual learning with little preparation. Teaching from home isn't the easiest without the necessary supplies. I need noise-canceling headphones so that I can multi-task (teaching as many students as possible while my two daughters play and/or watch television in front of me).
Our students, many of whom didn't have technology at home, now are virtually learning through Zoom, Google Hangouts and Google Classroom.
Thankfully, my students and I are up for the challenge of digital learning and we are excited to see what the coming weeks will bring.
