My Students

This is for my Dual Credit US History students. This is a college-level course, which provides students with a college credit upon completion of the course.

After the glowing success of our first examination of a monograph, the class wants to look at Kim Phillips-Fein's "Fear City." The response to our last text could not have been better and my students look forward to the potential of tackling another book next semester.

These students, by taking this course, have gone above and beyond in their educational pursuits. This course is challenges them to think about events within their historical context as well as how they effect our lives today. Please help them gain valuable perspective not only on factories, but on how good history is written.

My Project

This will be the second historical monograph that my dual credit students have read. The first was Joshua Freeman's "Behemoth," an examination of the history of gigantic factories and how they have shaped our world today.

My students chose Kim Phillips-Fein's "Fear City" to examine the use of austerity politics in 1970s New York City.

This engaging narrative discusses the effects of New York City's bankruptcy crisis in the late 1970s, the interaction with the federal government, and the relationship between the federal, state, and local governments. My students are currently finishing our first monograph and look forward to the potential of looking at "Fear City" in the spring semester!
