The cost of a battery recharger and four batteries, and three printer cartridges is $180, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.
I was blessed to have been funded by DonorsChoose for my "Digital Delight" proposal in March 2005. I have created wonderful projects in the classroom for my students, their families, and my collegues. I have used the camera so much that I could be a stock holder in AA batteries and print cartridges.
I have missed some photo opportunities because my batteries failed me and the camera shut off. I would love to have a rechargeable battery unit and a 1 year supply of printer ink.
I teach Pre-Kindergarten. This year we were given the opportunity to meet our students and their families before school started. During my homevisits I took pictures of the incoming student and their family to make a "comfort bear" to ease the transition from home to school. The pictures were precious and many of the families requested copies of the pictures for the school project to put in their personal photo album. I used so much ink for the families that when the children came to school and I needed to capture another moment, I didn't have the ink supply to print the picture.
For example, one morning my students and I decided to capture the wild geese eating "breakfast" on a warm, foggy morning. We crept outside and followed the geese around the playground area, taking pictures of their habits along the way. I had to use my 35mm as my digital batteries were low and wouldn't let me take the pictures. Now my little cherubs patiently wait for me to develop the pictures to put in the science center.
As the holiday season fast approach, having an abundant supply of ink and batteries allows my assistant and me to create personal Christmas and Kwanzaa gifts for our parents. We are planning to do a Polar Express bulletin board where the children take pictures in a train operator or conductor's cap and the picture is placed in the front of the engine of the train. We will also be doing a bulletin board using eskimos and igloos. The children will dress as an eskimo and use their faces to fill in the hood part of the coat. One of our gifts is a Christmas snowflake where the children will decorate craft sticks with glitter and their pictures will be laminated and placed in the center of the snowflake for a keepsake Christmas ornament. We would also like to be able to send home pictures from school where the children were "caught" in a teachable moment. For example, when Karla created a castle out of her magna tiles. We took the picture and printed it out on the PC, however the quality wasn't nearly as clear as it would have been directly from the camera.
I would greatly appreciate assistance in continuing to create memories for my students.
