My Project
Covid. Chaos. Unpredictability. Disadvantage. These are just a few of the words that describe the challenges my students have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have built a structured curriculum and digital learning resources for exam preparation, but my students need more. They are asking for structure. Every class period. Every day. They have enough unpredictability in the rest of their lives right now.
This project will allow me to create structured, interactive classroom modules for every Biology lesson.
Not just one, but all. I am an avid fan of Nearpod, a digital program that allows teachers to embed content in an interactive web tool. Students can collaborate on discussion boards, view virtual reality scenes related to content, and even take a digital field trip to explore. Teachers can present slides, insert games for practice, and assess students through quizzes, model building, and virtual labs.
To date, I have funded my use of Nearpod out of my own pocket. But, that has only afforded me one of the more basic packages, and I do not have any more storage to build new modules. I'm out of space. I am unable to give my students the level of accessibility that they need. My students have loved Nearpod, and they need that structure and these opportunities. Every day. Every class period. By supporting this project, you will help to fund a Platinum subscription to Nearpod, giving me essentially endless Nearpod storage to create content. The best part is that these modules can be used not only during COVID, but for years to come. Easy to modify, they will always be able to give my students the structure they need within the context they're living in.
