Our school serves students grades Pre-K through fifth. My school is located in an area of Arkansas that could be considered in need of repairs. More than 90% of our students participate in a free or reduced-rate lunch program.
Because money is in short supply, I am always looking for ways to help bring exciting new materials into the classroom.
My students have limited experiences, so projects like these help make learning come to life. These experiences will help my students develop a love for learning.
My students absolutely LOVE animals and nature. They are obsessed with learning about animals through read alouds, informational videos, etc. To help my students begin to understand the impact humans have had on the environment, specifically animal life, I am requesting a variety of informational texts. These texts will help me teach students about various biomes where animals live and the environmental issues negatively impacting them. The educational software will help me engage students in activities about how animals survive in nature and the differences between living and non-living things. Additionally, I am requesting a variety of hands-on file folder games and magnetic games for students to explore the life cycles of living things, their needs, body coverings, etc. I would also like for my students to learn to use the Flexi-scope to examine living things like insects safely and without hurting them. By teaching my students about the wonderful creatures on our planet, I hope to inspire my students to take care of them and the environment through teaching conservation.
