Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a neighborhood where only 2.2% of the population has a college diploma and over 68% never completed high school. For the students in my room, 100% will graduate high school and 100% will have acceptance to a university when they receive their high school diploma. From day one of entering our school, the question is not if they will go to school but where! It is the love of reading that begins this journey from a young age.
My Project
With your help, we can get these books into the hands of students who can help us save the planet! These books spotlight all the amazing creatures that we share our Earth with! One of the ways to help teach students to be responsible citizens is to expose them to the animals on our planet. When students understand the animals, their impact they will be more empathetic and compassionate about conservation! These high-interest, beautiful non-fiction text will expose students to animals they have never seen, and may not know even exist!
With these books we can leave the classroom to explore the Arctic, the rainforest, the desert, and more!
Too many of our students have never left their zip code and have only been to the zoo once on a field trip. With your support we can expose students to all the amazing animals, the gems of our planets! Help me create empathy, understanding, and care of our planet through these beautiful and exciting books!
