My Students

My students are hard-working preschoolers that like to learn through observation, manipulation, and in general, just doing. My students use all of their senses to learn one concept, and that is important to them.

My students are mostly from low socioeconomic areas and have been subjected to some form of trauma in their lives.

It is my job to teach them how to handle their past while still learning about the world that surrounds them. This means them having to learn how to deal with their big emotions, and techniques to deal with them when they are on their own.

My Project

Conscious Discipline is an evidence-based trauma-informed program. This program is meant to help students and adults of all kinds and backgrounds learn self-regulation. We all experience the big emotions of mad, sad, and happy (as well as many more).

My goal with getting this program is to learn how to teach it to the parents of my students.

I want to give them the resources they need to help their children at home like I try to do daily at school. This will provide a bridge and a stronger connection for the children in the long run.

This parent education pack will help me establish an effective parent education program, strengthen my own understanding of Conscious Discipline, and reduce my prep time by providing ready-made items for the parents.
