Conquering the World
My students need globes and maps to help them better understand their world.
My Social Studies classes are very active and I strive to provide hands-on instruction to help meet their needs and get them to pass the state standardized tests while enjoying what they are learning and understanding the world around them.
Because of the high level of poverty in my school district, many of my students have not had the opportunity to visit museums, travel, or had the life experiences that help them to understand the abstract concepts they are expected to learn in the 5th grade.
Having multiple maps and globes for my students to work with will help me to reach more students in the short time we have to learn about our entire planet! 5th graders are expected to understand the ancient world and its impact on today. Hands-on activities are an important part of making this knowledge accessible for my high poverty and English Language Learning population.
Utilizing class sets of materials and picture history books will allow all of my students of various ability levels to meet state standards while enjoying the learning!
With your generous donations, students from under privileged and under-represented populations will begin to see a path to leadership and changing our world.
