Help me give my students an experience of a lifetime. The Museum in the Classroom presentation brings Roman culture alive for my Latin students. They will be able to see replicas of art to connect to their learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live in an high-poverty urban environment. Many struggle to stay engaged in their education due to outside factors. My school, therefore, tries to balance a decreasing budget and resources for our students at the same time. Most of my students are very active and have difficulty paying attention in a traditional classroom setting. They strive for excellence, but get distracted easily and have trouble staying engaged in their learning. They all really want to succeed and become successful in life.
My Project
Mr. and Mrs. Ryan will bring a variety of different art work and replica artifacts to the students. They create a museum in the classroom, where the students can explore.
Mr. and Mrs. Ryan also allow hands-on activities, such as dressing a student as a member of the Roman army.
They allow the student to wear the armor and see what it would be like to be a real soldier from thousands of years ago.
This visitation will help to make the connection for all of my students, but especially my visual learners, who sometimes have troubles relating to the language and culture of the Ancient Romans.
