This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is a Title I elementary school in DC. This year, I am starting a dance program for my students and I am so excited to be back in the classroom with them dancing in-person. They have been wanting a dance program and I'm so grateful to finally be able to bring one to them.

Dance and the arts are vital in education.

Dance helps to develop children in terms of creativity, confidence and physical abilities. I am looking forward to watching how they will grow during this year as dancers and students.

My Project

This year, attending fields trips is difficult due to Covid and restrictions. Help me bring dance and performances into the classroom by helping me with getting a projector to show videos of dances! This one will also be portable so I can take it into other classrooms or areas of the school as needed.

My students are beginning their introduction into the world of dance and the opportunity for them to be able to see performances of professional dancers would make such a difference in our classroom.

The posters will add to my classroom and give my students motivation and inspiration in their learning experience.
