"To learn it, do it!" Parents are a child's first teacher so lets empower them. Imagine parents having great age appropriate materials to check out and take home to support their child's learning.
My classroom is filled with 3-5 year old children with special needs, such as developmental delays, deaf/hard of hearing and autism.
They are AMAZING kids with great potential for learning. These students require lots of repetition to learn new skills. By putting the right resources together for families they can take their child's learning to the next level. I want to instill an excitement for learning, and with your help we can. Many of my students don't have puzzles or language rich materials at home to learn new concepts. So again with your help we can provide these materials to bridge the path to greatness!
My Project
With these materials I will put together backpacks for the kids to check out and take home to do fun activities with their families. I hope that Fun Bags (my version of homework) will be an effective and engaging way to bridge the home-school connection. I need language materials that are stimulating and family friendly to reinforce basic concepts. I am requesting 6 theme boxes that will incorporate language, academics, fine motor and emotional development through basic preschool themes. These theme boxes come with great learning ideas for the materials enclosed, I hope to make two backpacks out of each box.
For a preschool child playing is learning so lets bring that fun home. Preschoolers take such pride in taking anything home to share with their parents. In one students words "Oh my mommy is going to love it!"
I believe in these kids and I hope you will too.
I think every family should have access to fun and engaging materials. These materials will be utilized by so many families for years to come. A major advantage of this collaboration is that the child sees the value of what he or she learns in school because this learning is applied at home. When parents and teachers work well together, everyone benefits.
