My Project

Ms. Yeager's Social Studies classes focus on reading, writing, critical thinking. We are continuously working on problem solving of real world situations through solution based questions and answers, critical examinations of media sources in effort to enhance our media literacy, as well as focusing on project based learning. We have had great luck using UpFront Magazine and Junior Scholastic Magazines in the past to build these skills, boost achievement and accelerate learning, and are looking to bring in these tools once again.

My students are hardworking, innovative and creative, having access primary source documents about current events, is a must in expanding their minds and skills in critically evaluating sources, exploring debatable issues & topics, and providing opportunities to grow in their literacy skills.

Getting real world/real life classroom materials in the hands of students can be challenging, but with the help of DonorsChoose it is possible. My goal is to create meaningful, real world learning experiences for my students, working through in class debates, discussing both historical and modern issues and building in reciprocal teaching strategies with these publications and with your support and donations.
