Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Second grade is such a fun and interactive grade, as students are not only growing and discovering themselves, but harvest a want to learn. During this age students are creative, collaborative, and excited about learning, which I love to help provide in the classroom. This will be my first year teaching at this age as I am a first year teacher.
As enthusiastic learners, these students deserve the ability to access all necessary resources to cater to their want for learning.
My classroom is made of a diverse group of students where not all students have access to the same types of resources outside the classroom. As well, my students are diverse in their individual needs within the classroom in the accommodations they may need in order to learn.
My Project
The way in which students learn is continuously evolving and many are no stranger to the use of technology! Kindle Fires allow students to access endless learning possibilities at their fingertips! Our school provides multiple learning opportunities through the use of educational apps such as iReady, for reading a math, that cater to the individual needs of students in order to support growth. However, not all students have the ability to access this wonderful program from their own homes and rely on the ability to do so at school. With limited quantities of laptops and computers available, it can become quite a task to make sure all 23 students are able to receive at least 30 minutes of access a week.
By choosing to help fund our project, our classroom will be able to provide more students with the ability to grow in both reading and math with technology that allows us access to such beneficial programs - especially when not every student may have the capability of doing it on their own.
With the additional aid of headphones, students will be able to concentrate on their lessons more effectively, keeping them engaged and growing as young learners. Not only will students be able to access these resources, but they will be able to listen to the lessons being taught, as well as access audiobooks to help build reading fluency.
