Have you ever seen a classroom of students who are excited about learning? Students want to relate what they are learning to real world experiences. By keeping students engaged in the classroom, their interest level is heightened.
My science classroom is full of students who love science.
I teach science to approximately 130 eighth grade students. Our school is a public school located in Arkansas. A high percentage of our students come from low income, single parent homes. Our school has been in a financial situation for the past few years. This has kept our classrooms from being equipped with the latest technology and resources. The students that I teach love to be involved in activities and labs in the classroom. They get excited about learning when they are able to do hands-on activities. Many of them get to experience new ideas through books.
My Project
Students are being required to read and comprehend non fiction text. The resources I requested will provide interesting information that the students will use to research and work on comprehension strategies. The books and weekly readers I have requested will be used to engage students in the content. Students will relate science content to real world experiences.
By funding this project, the donor will ensure that these materials are readily available for the student's use.
These materials will enhance the students education by allowing them to experience the frameworks through literature. Students who are engaged in their learning better comprehend the information. These experiences will help the students retain science information and enhance their comprehension skills.
