Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work with a magnificent group of students at a Title 1 school. The school is a large school with several transfer students. My students are eager to learn. They possess a hunger for knowledge that drives them to become critical thinkers. They walk into my classroom excited to learn. They know that school is a safe place where learning will occur. We start our day by discussing our daily goals and objectives. At the end of the day, the students discuss what they learned with a partner.

My Project

The Amazon Kindle tablets will allow my students to engage in digital literacy activities. They will be able to collaboratively engage in conversations with other students.

The students will actively participate in Kahoot, Nearpod, Big Universe, and Discovery Education activities.

The usage of Kahoot will allow students to review standards that were previously taught. Students will use Nearpod to complete Science activities. Students will read books on Big Universe that correlate with what they are learning in class. After reading the books on Big Universe, students will watch short videos that are related to the topic of the book. They will watch the videos on the Discovery Education website. Many of my classroom activities are displayed on Discovery Education. The students will be able to use the Kindles to access the Discovery Education boards.
