I teach in a Preschool moderate/severe classroom with ranging disabilities from students with Autism, Learning disabilities, and other health impairments. Students in this area have been affected by the recent Camp Fire in California and come from homes where their parents are very hard working. Each one of my students is a marvel and such a fun little human being! They all have a unique way of learning which is part of what makes teaching them so fun.
This is a new class that has been opened up as kids with special needs turn 3 so that they may receive high quality services.
My Project
Students that are coming into this classroom have limited fine and gross motor skills. Through the use of these material such as a tunnel and a balance beam, these kids will learn to move thier body in a multitude of ways to gain access to the school environment.
Fine motor skills are also necessary to access every students’ education.
Fine motor development can affect many things in education such as grasping a pencil to opening up a door to a classroom.
ALL students should have the opportunity to develop these skills and most classrooms are not equipped with the necessary tools to help.
