Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard working, thoughtful, creative kids with a passion for learning. They are amazing readers who relish our independent reading time each day.
While my students are well on their way to becoming successful readers, we are a Title I school and our local library is not accessible to all students.
In the journey to becoming lifelong readers, choice of books is key. Students need to be able to read books that appeal to them, and they need access all year long, not just during the school year.
My Project
All of these books will help us fill up our Little Free Library. Our goal is to turn our students and our community into readers, and to give them the opportunity to have 24 hour access to great books. Hopefully, the right book will find its way into the right hands and create a life-long reader!
A variety of books have been chosen to spark the interest and imagination of our students and our neighbors.
Because the library is open to everyone, we expect there to be a large turnover rate of books going out of the library, and we want to make sure there is plenty from which to choose!
