Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

COVID had a great impact on all our lives, especially on kids. That time spent isolated from our friends, also gave us a chance to learn of new and old skills through tik tok and YouTube. Thanks to social media, my students have shown interests in embroidery, crocheting, inventing, designing and coding, but lack access to necessary resources and/or supplies to practice such skills.

With the 3D printer, my students will be able to design possible solutions to everyday problems, like making pencil holders, iPad stands for recording their thinking on flipgrid, etc., as well as, learning to manipulate yarn colors and crochet stitches to create 3D art sculptures.

Students will also have the opportunity to make their own designs on cloth and "color" them with floss thread using embroidery techniques.

Through the aid of this grant, my students will become innovators and creators of new content as well as learning the artistic skills of the past in STEAM projects that will help us connect and share ideas with each other.
