The students in my classroom live in an urban, low-income city. They have limited resources and often, survival comes before learning. These students need motivation to further their academic careers and succeed beyond school.
My students all qualify for free or reduced-price lunch under Title I.
The students in my school are very hard working, yet have limited basic skills. To help them grow in math, they need to connect concepts to the real world. While they have limited experiences such as travel, they are desperate to see what life is like outside of their city.
My Project
"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow" - John Dewey
Students need access to the internet and the vast amount of resources available to help them explore, learn and succeed.
The Amazon Fire Tablets will give my students the ability to access content that was otherwise impossible for them to see. Students will use the tablets to research, create and display what they are learning, preparing them for any future career. Students need to learn how to use technology in productive ways, making them better equipped to succeed in the workplace. These tablets offer them the ability to become more prepared for their future.
Students will be able to access Google Classroom as well as the class website through the tablets. They will be able to not only review the content but create their own in the form of interactive projects and displays. Having a 1:1 classroom with technology will allow both the students and teachers in the room to utilize the unlimited resources that are available.
The literature sorters will be used as a safe and organized storage container for the tablets. Each tablet will have a given slot with the charger pushed through so that they will all be accounted for and charging when not in use.
