Help me give my students a chance to show their creativity by donating canvases, paints and paintbrushes for a classroom weekend gathering to better develop a classroom family relationship that will be a lasting memory!
I have the privilege of teaching 25 students who all come from unique and special homes. My school is a Title I school that supports children who come from a diverse range of households. This particular year I have students who truly are kind and caring to their classmates, especially classmates that may be different from each other. They support and encourage each other with their words and actions, and it truly makes me so excited to come and teach these kids each and every day!
I will be doing a canvas painting lunch that will allow my second graders to come together on a weekend and get to know each other more. We will have lunch and paint together. They will each be going home with their own painting that was done on a canvas. I have done these weekends in the past and it has allowed the students to form a deeper, family-like relationship outside of the daily academic rigor.
I get to connect with the students at a deeper level as well, and help them feel valued as we make a deeper learning experience that I hope will be a forever memory.
