Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in second grade and attend a Title I school. 99% of the students at our school have at least one parent serving in the military. I like them to have items available to them, no matter what time of the year it is. They will feel welcome and have items available to them.
They like to practice and help each other learn.
They enjoy math, reading and science. They love to read non-fiction books and are very excited when we have our science days. They also love to be active in physical activities and run laps during running club.
My Project
Art is fun for our class but we need supplies. My students will do two art projects where they will learn to draw a fish with scales and different designs.
They will also learn to draw a tiger.
Both projects need black felt tip markers and paper. There are many art projects we do that need felt tip markers. Many of the projects will help guide them to be more confident in art.
Instead of using pencils which have erasers, I want to use the felt tips which have no erasers. I teach a step by step lesson and then guide them to make lines on their paper. They watch first and I talk about the line we are about to make. I have them picture it and then draw it. They soon will become confident in drawing.
