Help me give my students the chance to experience a professional and educational photoshoot which will supply them with a the photographic materials needed to pursue dance.
My graduating seniors started studying dance at our NYC high school during their freshman year. These young dancers have helped me to shape a thriving dance program with over 200+ students a week during the day and 60+ after school. Our school is a Title-I school where many of our students live at or below the poverty line, and many of our student face many challenges in their lives. Through dance they have cultivated resilience, passion, and leadership skills.
My students are some of the most incredible young people I know, and I am convinced that they will change the world someday.
This workshop is designed to make them feel as amazing as they are and give them some of the tools and confidence they will need to pursue dance post-high school.
Some of my graduating senior dance students have sought out opportunities to study dance outside of school: often working to pay for classes themselves. These young dancers have earned opportunities to perform all over NYC including the Apollo Theater, Hunter College, Abrons Arts Center, and more. Help me create an amazing memories for them which commemorates their high school dance career before they go off into the world.
My Project
Students will travel to Gibney Dance Studios where they will participate in an educational workshop and photo shoot with an organization called Confidanz. Check it out online. The day begins with informational workshops about lighting, equipment, and best practices when it come to dance photoshoots. In the second half of the day the young dancers will apply that knowledge and participate in a professional photoshoot where they will receive a headshot and dance body shot.
The photoshoot has a special emphasis on confidence building which is so important for young men and women.
The intentional and personal movement coaching that Confidanz specializes in will guarantee that each dance will be in love with their photos.
