I am a teacher in an urban school district. This year I started a position in a new district at a new school as a special education teacher. I have ten students ranging from third to fifth grade. A lot of our day will consist of being mindful. Meditation and yoga will help us to achieve our goals. These tools will help them on a daily basis to become more successful. This will help us to prepare our students for the year, and also their future years of schooling.
My Project
Everyday my students conference with me. This consists of talking to each student discussing things that went well that day, and areas they can continue to work on. In order for this to be successful, the rest of the class has to be engaged in an independent activity.
My students love to make iron on shapes and animals.
We are currently sorting through a variety pack of beads. This then results in needing the help of an adult to complete. Having already sorted out colors will make this activity easier for all adults in the room. New plates will decrease the amount of arguments, and allow more students to choose beads. Puzzles, coloring, and board games will also keep students engaged in a quiet independent activity.
