I have a diverse group of fantastic students. However, the majority of my students come from the public housing system in NYC, along with an increasing number of English Language Learners.

They are a wonderful group of students who love to explore and learn as well as amaze me on a daily basis. Even though many of them face very harsh realities, they still come in excited to learn and happy to be in school. My students find comfort in the school; for some, it is one of the few constants in life they can count on. Working in a large urban city school with very limited resources, I have learned to be creative when it comes to providing my students with resources.
Our conference table has received a lot of love over the past 7 years. It is not longer functional and is falling apart. It was also damaged by the construction workers during the window replacement we had in the winter.
Working in a small group in the heart of kindergarten pedagogy.
Students need individualized attention and support to flourish.
However, this is hard to do when the conference table we have is showing its age. We have to prop cardboard under the table legs to keep it balanced. This is a distraction at times because the table become a wobble stool.
This new conference table will help me to focus students attention to the task and centers rather than playing with the table. Students will be able to sit around a solid table and work without any further distractions.
