Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each day can be something beautiful! I think my students are so special to this community because they are idealist, loving, and unique. The students look for ways to use their individual talents to improve their surroundings. The school is in a poverty stricken neighborhood on the other side of the railroad tracks.
Each child has a success story to share, no victory is too miniscule!
We place emphasis on life long skills such as problem solving and good character. Our school is a place to nurture strong, resilient young people.
These students have several obstacles such as single parent households, depression/anger, and hunger. They work hard each day at school to make a better life for themselves.
My Project
The idea of using bean bag chairs is a nice touch to our class library. It will make the job of finding the just right book more exciting. Plus, the special seating can be used throughout the day for partner work.
There is a need in my room for more hands on learning activities.
I often hear, "What kind of game are we going to play?" When the opportunity arises for my students to do a hands on activity, the children are more engaged. The learning becomes more fun! It is a winning situation for everyone in the room. The students take pride in their achievements.
