Computing Our Way to Financial Literacy at Age 5!!!
Help me give my students LCD writing tablets and play money for them to demonstrate their understanding of early math skills which will increase their knowledge of money concepts all in an engaging, motivating way!
I teach a class of 28 amazing kindergartners who are eager to learn and deserve endless resources, experiences, and opportunities. They come from different backgrounds, have a wealth of experiences, and have a lot to contribute to our diverse learning community. They are eager for knowledge and engaging opportunities to learn.
I have a very diverse population at my school and in my classroom, with at least 50% learning English as their second language, and I teach at the most diverse school in the nation!
The children delight in activities that engage their minds and bodies, and they look forward to what each day of the exciting kindergarten world brings them! It is my job to inspire and motivate them in a variety of ways in which I reach the whole child.
My Project
I would like for my students to be able to demonstrate their understanding of math concepts which are a critical step to financial literacy. By using LCD writing tablets, the students can demonstrate key concepts of math and financial literacy in an earth friendly way! No waste of paper and pencils! Saving trees and being part of the effort to protect the environment all while learning math and financial literacy skills couldn't be more powerful!
I plan to have the children demonstrate key concepts such as counting, number recognition, comparing numbers, counting by 5s and 10s, adding, subtracting, value of currency, equivalency of different denominations of currency, comparing currency values, and much more on these amazing earth friendly, LCD writers.
The students can also practice working out budgets with their engaging LCD writers.
Financial literacy must begin at an early age! The children are learning concepts and skills that will last a lifetime. I hope to lay the foundation of their road to financial success. Simple technology can be quite useful and often serves as a path to extended learning. The students and I can't wait to utilize such fun interactive writers in our daily math and money activities! These LCD tablets will be a great addition to our financial literacy resources in the classroom!
