Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I school that has a high English Language Learner population. Most of the students get free lunch. Many of my students have told me that they live with other families in one small apartment. The children do not get their own space for themselves and their things in this type of environment. The children in my school have parents that work two jobs, which means they are not always home helping them with school work or just spending time with them.
The children are very loving and enjoy the routine of being in school.
They enjoy working with other children and learning from them. Even though their home lives may be challenging, the children come to school every day ready to learn.
My Project
My students will be able to work on computers to reinforce skills such as reading and math. These computers will make learning letters, sounds, numbers and sight words fun. The children would be able to sit by themselves or with a friend to work on the computer. Some children need reinforcement of skills while others need to be challenged. Having more computers in the room will allow me to differentiate more. Tests for older grades are given on the computer and this would allow my 4 year olds to become more familiar with computers and get ready for the upper grades.
