My first grade students are an amazing group of diverse children that are excited to learn and grow. They are smart, kind, and creative. They absolutely love working with all different types of technology such as tablets, computers, and interactive technology games.
All of my students learn at different rates and in different ways.
I teach in an inclusion classroom that consists of both regular ed and special needs children. My students have a variety of learning styles, and allowing them to use computer based programs allows them to work at their own pace to acquire the skills they need to be successful.
My Project
My goal is to provide my students the tools they need most to be successful. I am currently working toward providing all of my students with Chromebook laptops. With Chromebooks, all students in my class will have access to programs that will allow them to grow and learn in a way that is fun, engaging, and tailored to their specific learning needs.

My school uses a program called IREADY which allows the students to work on their own specific learning goals. It uses diagnostic tools to find where they are sucessful and where they are struggling and provides them the lessons and activities that are specifically tailored to their needs. I feel that through both my whole group and small group instruction and the additional fun and engaging activites they will receive from this program, that my students will be set up for success.
Unfortunately, I currently have twenty students and 4 computers. Two additional Chromebooks will allow me to provide more opportunities for ALL of my students to get the time they need on programs such as these.
