My Students
"I do not fear computers. I fear lack of them." Isaac Asimov
My students live and go to school in a lower socioeconomic area of Hawthorne, CA.
They are in my 8th grade Language Arts, Social Studies, and Exploratory classes at Bud Carson Middle School.
Our district has implemented Chromebooks in most classes. They are very interested in this. Technology is important to them and motivates them to learn. They are intelligent, happy, and fun people. We learn at our school in a variety of ways.
My Project
Computers and technology are very important to learning. I have been assigning projects to my students throughout the year. We have been sharing Chromebooks. I would like three new ones so more students can have 1:1 use.
Study Sync is a huge focus for 8th grade.
The students enjoy highlighting and answering questions. Chromebooks help motivate them to complete assignments.
In Social Studies, they have been using various websites to help learn about history. We have used Brainpop to help understand our past. The students can take tests to help understand what they learned. It is helpful in many aspects for the research also. They use them to write reports and create projects.
