Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a multi-age K-1 grade classroom in a low income area where over 50% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. My students are excited about learning. I want to teach my children how to use and interact with technology, particularly computers, as much as possible as they learn. Less than half of my students' families have personal computers at home. My students love to use the computer to play math and literacy games, learning to type, and how to navigate with the computer. Computer time is the most sought after activity during center activities. I have one computer in my classroom and I have purchased several computer programs to teach math and literacy skills, but they are older versions and the children have used them so much, they aren't challenging anymore. I would like to purchase various computer programs to give my students more of a variety. Technology is the "wave of today." Computers are a necessary part of our society. My students deserve the opportunity to learn to use computers while at the same time learning the 3 Rs so they can keep up with their peers. This cannot be possible without help. I thank you for considering funding this proposal.
