I teach at an Equity Plus School located in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Currently about 75% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. In my class 90% receive free or reduced lunch and 30% are English as a second language learners. Anyone who works in a public school knows that furniture is hard to come by. Teachers are always scavenging to find desks, chairs, and tables. In our classroom we are lucky enough to have four IBM computers and a printer! The students love using the computers; and I love that they are learning computer skills at such a young age. Unfortunately, we don't have enough furniture to accommodate all four computers and the printer. One computer isn't utilized the way it should be because it's crammed on a student-sized desk. Students have to hold the keyboard on their lap when they use this computer. This isn't very comfortable or practical. I am requesting one computer table for my classroom. With adequate furniture we would be able to utilize our computers practically.
