I have a great group of Pre-K, special needs students! They are fun and energetic. They teach me how to be a better person and a better teacher. For them, I strive to keep my classroom interesting and engaging.
Many of my students have autism with speech and occupational delays and they need things presented to them in fun ways to help them stay engaged, process, understand, and retain the information.
They come from a variety of backgrounds with different abilities and interests, but fundamentally they are all the same. They are children who want to learn and play. So as their teacher, it is my role to find the ways they will learn best.
My Project
Technology is all around us and a part of our daily lives. In order to succeed in today's world computer and technology skills are necessary.
My students deserve as many experiences and opportunities that other students are lucky enough to have and this laptop is a huge step to equalizing those educational opportunities.
Many students in my class do not have access to a computer in their home. The only access they will have to technology is what we expose them to in the school building.
With the use of this laptop each child can have an opportunity to learn how to operate it and give them the foundation to build a strong technology background that will help them in their future educational and life experiences.
My students will use the computer daily in order to learn how to use it independently as well as completing lessons. My students have autism and other disabilities and this computer will allow me to create lessons tailored to each child’s interests and level. I look forward to incorporating music and books read to the children where they are in control of the speed. I can create Google slides and use applications like Peardeck to motivate the students snd monitor their progress.
