Despite some of the hardships our students have faced, students at our elementary school show up ready to learn everyday. Fifty percent of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch, and many are English Language Learners.
Our students work all year long on expanding their problem solving skills through creative thinking and trial and error.
We focus on teaching thematic units, integrating reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Our students are so much more engaged in their learning when we can connect the standards and curriculum to hands-on projects.
My students are eager to engage with anything technological! They crave chrome book time during centers, and love using the Hot Dot pens we have in class to practice math, reading, and science skills. I would love to be able to introduce my students to computer coding with the Dash and Dot robots and the iPads I'm requesting. I am hoping that I can run technology centers a few days per week, where students rotate through using the robots, the Hot Dot cards, and the chrome books we have already to inspire my students with technology. Thank you for helping me achieve this ambitious goal for my students.
