Help me give my students an opportunity to extend their math and computer science learning with hands-on practice as they use their robots to code for specific angles, geometric shapes and patterns with the Dash Sketch kit.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are low income, special needs students in a variety of settings. They are in self-contained special education classes (programs for students with autism) and Integrated Co-Teaching Classes (special ed. and gen. ed. combined) classes. They work very hard at learning new skills. The students have been learning to code and look forward to computer science class every week.
They love to learn and enjoy hands-on activities to help them understand the content better.
My students are inquisitive and happy children who always try their best. Computer science allows the students to connect with one another despite their academic difficulties and to help their social development and confidence in school.
My Project
The Hot Dots kits will help my students build their basic skill knowledge in mathematics through self-checking centers. This will offer my special needs students independence in their learning. Students will engage in standards based learning to help their math vocabulary and knowledge while reviewing their classwork in a new way.
The Dash Sketch kits will connect their math learning to their newly developed computer science coding skills.
My students have been learning how to code for their robots and now need sketch kits to direct their robots to draw specific geometric shapes and angles as they connect their learning across multiple subjects. The sketch kits will allow their coding to come to life as the robots actually draw what the students have coded for. This will provide real life practice of the math they struggle with, while combining it with the computer science they love!
