Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am an ESL teacher in a large urban school district and I have been fortunate to work with many different students, who are from different countries and speak a variety of languages. We are a diverse classroom with a variety of needs.
I work with both first and second-grade students from all over the world.
I help students improve their reading, math, writing, and speaking skills. Our classroom is always changing and growing but allows students to have a safe place to practice the English language.
My Project
In a time with technology and science are growing I think it is essential that my students become more familiar with computer science. I would like to attend a professional development called Everyday Computing.
This professional development will teach me how to implement combined mathematics and Computer science activities.
These activities teach new mathematics concepts as well as reinforce already familiar mathematics.
The professional development focuses on how to differentiate for ESL students and teaches me ways to implement these tools in the classroom. I hope that is professional development will teach me how to better engage my students and allow them to have a more positive relationship with math, science, and technology!
