My Students

We all use computers and mobile devices daily. What is amazing is that my students want to UNDERSTAND these devices, not simply USE them. My students are eager to learn about algorithms, coding and how the internet operates.

"Building our futures today, designing your future tomorrow," is what drives our high school's comprehensive education plan.

At our "Title One" school many students are faced with challenges: such as not having computers or 24/7 Wi-Fi at home. It is essential that my students have equal opportunities to reach their career goals.

My Project

Last year, we began a Computer Science course at our HS, and the Dept. of Education funded a laptop cart with 30 laptops. The course is going very well and is now expanding; however, there is NO funding for additional laptops. My co-teacher and I have decided to try our best to get a class-set of Chromebooks (ten at a time)!

Our STEM high school is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) school and we really need to expand our Computer Science department to help students prepare for careers in IT or computer science majors in college.

Today, more than ever, it is imperative to prepare our students to understand computers and give opportunities to students of ALL backgrounds to have the successful careers they aspire to.
