This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our four-year-old preschool classroom is a child's first real-life experience within a school setting. Families are eligible through their income or other risk factors, such as having a single parent or the parent was a teenager when the child was born.
Our students are always eager to learn, soaking up learning like little sponges.
We offer them experiences with many hands-on activities such as play dough, painting, drawing, writing, riding bikes, music, and movement. This year because of Covid, we are learning virtually but we still need to use manipulatives for hands-on learning. Fine motor skills are so important at this age!!!
My Project
These materials will be for my students to use at home during small group times while we are learning virtually. The counters will be used for counting, sorting and classifying in different ways. The dominoes will be used for number recognition and building. The magna tiles will be used for learning about magnetization, building and fine motor skills. Dry erase markers will be used with dry erase boards to practice writing our names and learning to write more letters and numbers.
Our parents need these resources to keep their children engaged and in the routine of school, even if it is on the computer.
We have gathered materials from school including technology; these additional resources will help us succeed even further to prepare our littles for kindergarten and beyond.
