Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

First of all, I would like to thank you for making the decision to help teachers in public schools. And I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my proposal. I am an Elementary Special Education Teacher for the Chicago Public Schools. My students range from fourth to eighth grade and all have learning disabilities. Despite their struggle with learning, they all have a strong desire to succeed in school. It just takes a lot more effort for them. Often, learning is a frustrating challenge that provides little fun or excitement. I am always looking for ways to enhance their learning in my classroom. One way I have found is educational computer games. My classroom is predominately boys who love video games. They seem to associate the computer with having fun, not work. To help them improve their basic skills in reading and math, I often use education computer games. Currently, I only have four reading (phonics and vocabulary) programs and two math programs for my 15 students. As they master each of these programs, they soon tire of the experience. I want to keep them interested in learning and in the computer. By helping me acquire new educational computer programs, I hope to further this positive learning experience.
