My Students

Today's students live in a digital world. To be successful with technology in the future, students need to know how to code. When my students found out they were enrolled in "Intro to Coding", they were ecstatic! I think the only person more excited about this class is me.

My students live in a low income area.

Our entire school qualifies for, and receives, free breakfast and lunch. Our school has recently committed to being a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) school. As part of our new STEAM designation, we have added my class as an elective, Intro to Coding. This class will teach the students the basics of computer programming in at least 2 languages. We are currently learning HTML and plan on learning Bootstrap in a couple of months.

My Project

I have been teaching my students HTML with self-made Power Point presentations adapted from the HTML and CSS book. I purchased one for myself so I would have a reference. Lately, my students have been asking for the book for themselves. They want to have a reference to turn to while writing code.

Donations to my project will relieve the anxiety some students are feeling about learning how to code.

I know that if they had the book in front of them, they would feel more comfortable trying different things. They would have a starting point and a guide to help them when I can't be in 22 places at once.
