I am the librarian at Woodlake Elementary School which is nestled in the woods just north of Lake Ponchartrain in Louisiana. We have 720 students from Pre-K through third. We have all suffered personal losses as well as losses at school. I am still living in a FEMA trailer and will be for some time ahead. The school has no money to replace damaged and broken equipment. I would love to find a way to purchase two computers for our library. All 720 students use the library each week. The students could take Accelerated Reading Tests after completing the books. Research shows that this program greatly improves students' reading skills, thereby improving all of their content areas. The library is also used for morning and aftercare each day for about 3 1/2 hours. Students would be able to use the computers for AR as well as for research on the Web. Parents are also invited in to use the computers.
